Hi there bloggies, I’ve been seeing some post warning me of an A – Z Challenge and I was curious. I’ve seen this around before but have never participated, for some mad reason I thought I would give it a go.
So here I am.
My theme is the A-Z of Scifi moves, I’ve not given this a great deal of thought and I know of a number but I won’t lie there’s some I will struggle with. I hope you enjoy them!
L is for the Last Starfighter
This one is a favourite of mine – the Last Starfighter. Alex Rogan (Lance Guest) is a young man helping his mum run a caravan park and not having much fun. He years for a better life, becoming the star of the caravan park after beating the the on site video game – The Last Starfighter.
When all has quietened down a car pulls up to Alex asking the the person who beat the game, the man is Centauri and he want’s Alex to go with him as he has a proposition. Agreeing to go with the man Alex is transported to another world in Centauri’s space ‘car’. Where he’s enlisted as a starfighter to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dann armada.
What follows is all kind so fun, danger an intrigue as Alex fights to keep himself alive and defend the frontier, Earth and his girlfriend Maggie from the relentless Ko-Dann.
This film is great and fans have been crying out for their to be a follow up to it. Made in 1984 The Last Starfighter was the first movie to use CGI for much of it to create the space ship scenes. This will always be a firm favourite!
With L done that means M is next… what to choose… any ideas?
I’m sorry, it’s me – I can’t help it. I’ve tried to keep the insanity from the door of this corner of the web but I can’t do it any longer. The world in which we live is wonderful, beautiful and terrible thing and yet there’s few – well quite a lot of people actually…
In this series of posts I’m going to look at the human perspective and ask questions like ‘What does it mean to be human?’ or ‘How can I be a better Human?’ with a little sprinkling of ‘How can I be more comfortable as a human?’In this mad world we’ve been enduring especially over the…

My name is Simon I'm an engineer, creator, free thinker and occasionally writer. For far too long I had ideas and nowhere to put them for the world to see, that's why Planet Simon was created.
I'm an experimenter, explorer and fascinated by the world around me and the people in it. My exploration goes further than the known universe and expands out to universe's I've created in my mind and put onto the creative canvas.
I'm not the person I used to be and over time I have evolved and the blog is evolving with me. Whatever this blog is in the future it's a place where all are welcome and ideas can roam free to find their magical place in the universe.

Not one I’ve seen before. Apparently Steven Spielberg is trying to get the rights to it to have it remade.
