Earth day for 2024 is today! The theme is water for 2024 and this really is where we should be thinking about the planet. The basic elements water and soil are fundamental to life and on sustaining life. It’s said (I don’t know how true it is) that there are less nutients in the food we eat now becasue of the degradation of the soil and water is essential to the life on Earth:
The ocean holds about 97 percent of Earth’s water and covers 70 percent of our planet’s surface. According to the United Nations, the ocean may be home to 50 to 80 percent of all life on Earth. Even if you live hundreds of miles from a coast, what happens in the ocean is fundamental to your life.

If we ever needed a better perspective to look at our fragility and cosmic insignificance this this picture taken by Voyage 1 of the ‘Pale Blue Dot’
It reminds us that now more than ever we need to be searching for the humility within ourselves to realise that we have to be better, grow better, find a new life philosophy and value for our fragile planet that we have until now struggled to find.
