A – Z Challenge – Sci-Fi Films J is for Jurassic Park

Hi there bloggies, I’ve been seeing some post warning me of an A – Z Challenge and I was curious. I’ve seen this around before but have never participated, for some mad reason I thought I would give it a go.

So here I am.

My theme is the A-Z of Scifi moves, I’ve not given this a great deal of thought and I know of a number but I won’t lie there’s some I will struggle with. I hope you enjoy them!

J is for Jurassic Park

Ok, you guys can argue with me on this one. Is Jurassic Park Sci-Fi? I think so, it’s taken science and made a story.

It all starts when Dr Hammond (Richard Attenborough) turns up to invite Dr’s Grant and Sattler (Sam Neil and Laura Dern) to his new park. Reluctantly agreeing they turn up to find the most incredible thing has happened – Dinosaurs have been brought back to life. Using DNA extracted from fossilised flies Dr Hammond has been able to create a whole new Jurassic eco-system which he intends to open as a park for all to visit.

But there are others who want to use Hammond’s dinosaur’s in a different way and will stop at nothing to get it. So the rather superior IT expert steals some embryo’s and in trying to get away sets off a disastrous chain of events that leaves death and the destruction of the park in its wake.

I mean, who doesn’t love Jurassic Park? There’s so many great and different characters thrown into the story. Jeff Goldblum’s Dr Malcolm is arguably the star of the film with his witty charm and willingness to argue with anyone.

That makes for letter J – k should follow tomorrow!

  1. Jurassic Park fan, definitely!

I do remember always disliking the granddaughter, Lex Murphy (I looked it up)… Lex is such a needy, whiny, squealy little girl. I was 9 when that movie came out, so I guess that is about the age that Lex was supposed to be, as well…? So maybe she resembled something I didn’t want to be, at that age.

Anyway, this makes me want to re-watch!
