Enigmatic Episodes – The Well to Hell

Enigmatic Episodes looks at the mysteries and urban legends that I’ve found on the internet and finds out more about them. Are they real? Could there be a cover up? What monster may live on, in or outside our Earth? Are the Aliens watching us?

This story as explained in brief on the pictures tells of a huge drilling operation that encountered a cavity. Using a microphone and other equipment they allegedly recorded the sound of the souls of the damned in hell. They stopped the operation in the hope that they would stay down there and not escape to the surface.

Ultimately this was revealed to be a hoax, the recording was traced back to a film. It only takes a little bit of digging to find out that the truth is somewhat less dramatic.

Shown below is the hole, inches across and is a mere 12Km or 7 .5 miles deep. There were some interesting geological properties found at this depth but nothing that could be described as and now capped and sealed to stop the unsuspecting reaching a somewhat grim fate

however the story continues to circulate. More on this story can be found here:

But in all of this there is a the other side – what made them stop drilling? Could they have kept going and if so what made them stop? The interesting geological properties?

    1. That’s the thing with this, On e one hand they might have been but also when you’re in the middle of a story and maybe getting paid for interviews will you really say ‘no it’s all rubbish’?
