Word Prompt Story – Solution

Word prompt stories – I’m going to try and look for a word prompt daily (haha don’t laugh) and see if I can create something short and sweet to write around it. As it’s me I’ll probably try and put a science fiction spin on it.

For all you reading it, this is a challenge for you as well, can you come up with something based in the chosen word? Post it on your blog and link back to this post something short of around 50 – 200 words (but no limit really) , it can be a story, poem, thought or whatever.

Why not join in and create something?

Solution

Brian had his work cut out for him. He had to get power from that generator over there to the supply board five metres away. With a four metre length cable he had a problem.

There was no way to get another one out here.

The solution had to be in ingenious and right now it was alluding him

  1. The witch twisted her hands and pulled away the stars from their place in the skies, watching them as they fell.Their twinkling symphonies silenced, the stars offered no resistance except the fiery trails of smoke they left as they floated to the ground. The night turned blacker- but the witch did not stop, would not stop. The horizon would be covered with the corpses of her bretheren when she stopped, until the night no longer seemed friendly, but instead it would seem more like a slab of black stone, threatening, daunting. The witch promised herself that she would not stop until her very soul withered to ashes.
The witch was a daughter of the moon, and her race was of the stars. But the stars had rejected her. Turned her away. It did not cause her any pain as even the strongest, mightiest stars sighed and surrendered to her dark grip.
Halfway across the world, the girl gaped at the darkening night sky. The moon seemed to be howling in anguish. Nobody but her daughters could hear her unending screams. Even the girl was a moonchild- but she was pure. the stars loved her, the moon sang to her. Her soul cried along with the moon’s as the girl hitched onto a beam of dying moonlight. The light swept the girl away to the source of that dark, pulsating power.
The girl had a solution- she had to end the witch.
The witch that was her mother.

  2. Learning to deal with one’s inner demons is hard for those who will give in to them. As though it was on purpose determination seemed to creep up on her, her inner voice shouted to the heart.
β€œWhy are you still here?” it shouted almost making her jump.
The voice shouted again β€œWhy are you still here?!”
There was a crack in the crater that was her heart, there should have been an awakening years ago, but not until that minute did the solution come to her. She was at peace for once in a long time, she knew how to move forward, the solution had finally come.
