Hi there bloggies, I’ve been seeing some post warning me of an A – Z Challenge and I was curious. I’ve seen this around before but have never participated, for some mad reason I thought I would give it a go.
So here I am.
My theme is the A-Z of Scifi moves, I’ve not given this a great deal of thought and I know of a number but I won’t lie there’s some I will struggle with. I hope you enjoy them!
Y is for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Don’t start ok? You try finding a Sci-Fi film beginning with Y – so I did a flip and it’s the last letter in this case.
Most Sci-Fi nerds will have read the great book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, there was a series back the 70’s / 80’s and in 2005 a film was created and released. The film generally follows the book apart from one bit in the middle which is odd.
So if you need refreshing, Arthur Dent’s house is about to be demolished and his friend Ford Prefect think s the best way to solve this is to go to the pub. While at the pub Ford tells Arthur that the Earth is going to be destroyed to make way for the a hyperspace bypass.
So ford and Arthur end up on a Vogon destructor ship, get shot into space and rescued by Zahod Beeblebrox in the spaceship Heart of Gold which he has stolen. Here Arthur finds Trillan and a whole adventure begins…
Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Although this film doesn’t stick strictly to the plot it’s pretty good and quite enjoyable with loads of funny silly moments in it and a number of amusing ideas. Among which of course is Douglas Adams Space is BIG quote read by Stephen Fry who narrates through the film.
With Y done that means Z is next… This is the last one!!!!
I’m sorry, it’s me – I can’t help it. I’ve tried to keep the insanity from the door of this corner of the web but I can’t do it any longer. The world in which we live is wonderful, beautiful and terrible thing and yet there’s few – well quite a lot of people actuallyโฆ
In this series of posts I’m going to look at the human perspective and ask questions like ‘What does it mean to be human?’ or ‘How can I be a better Human?’ with a little sprinkling of ‘How can I be more comfortable as a human?’In this mad world we’ve been enduring especially over theโฆ

The original radio series has never been bettered, still the Guide deserved a mention
It’s OK, trouble for it was the radio series was one heck of a hard act to follow.
(Memories of late night cleaning of paint brushes and creasing myself with laughter as Majikthise and Vroomfondel
Not finished yet WP….as as representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Philosophers, Sages, Luminaries and Other Thinking Persons demanded Deep Thought be turned off
I thought this was your H post! I didn’t watch the movie but read the book ages ago that I don’t even remember what it’s about anymore until I read your short synopsis here. You’re almost at the end!

The book… Itโs one of a kind amazing. This film, though. Er… It is bizarre (not in a good way). ๐

I’m with you here. But then any TV or film that takes up hitchhiker’s will be weird let’s face it ๐

I like the books and the TV series, found the film disappointing though.
