Hi there bloggies, I’ve been seeing some post warning me of an A – Z Challenge and I was curious. I’ve seen this around before but have never participated, for some mad reason I thought I would give it a go.
So here I am.
My theme is the A-Z of Scifi moves, I’ve not given this a great deal of thought and I know of a number but I won’t lie there’s some I will struggle with. I hope you enjoy them!
I is for Interstellar
Earth is dying, blight is destroying crops and dust storms are choking the air. Humans have been plundering it too much and now mankind struggles to survive. Farmers are more important than astronauts as they grow the food that mankind needs, corn is the only crop that can now be grown on Earth. All government funding for space missions have been stopped in order to make funds available so humanity can survive.
Joseph Copper a former NASA pilot is now a farmer, struggling to to come to terms with a world that now teaches the Moon landings were fake. But strange things are happening in his daughter Murphy’s room. Things falling off shelves randomly, and after a dust storm a pattern made in the dust. Cooper works out these are binary co-ordinates for a location. Going there Cooper finds a secret NASA base, meeting with Professor Brand Cooper is enlisted on a mission to fly the spaceship Endurance through a wormhole around Saturn which leads to a black hole in a distant galaxy, where they think a new home for humans exists.
With disaster not far away Cooper and Professor Brand’s daughter with a human and robotic crew need to find this new home, fight with time relativity and a huge black hole.
Interstellar is a modern day 2001, the look, the feel, the plot while not copied at all feels very much the same. Matthew McConaughey is brilliantly cast as Cooper and with other big names like Michael Caine and Anne Hathaway, INterstellar had a great cast and were used well. This film is not one that would get watched over and over as it’s a harder film to take and is leaves you a bit brain twisted at the end. Sure if you delve into scientific accuracy there’s inaccuracies allover the place but I think it’s a very good film.
I need to see it again sometime.
That makes for letter I – J should follow tomorrow!
