Hi there bloggies, I’ve been seeing some post warning me of an A – Z Challenge and I was curious. I’ve seen this around before but have never participated, for some mad reason I thought I would give it a go.
So here I am.
My theme is the A-Z of Scifi moves, I’ve not given this a great deal of thought and I know of a number but I won’t lie there’s some I will struggle with. I hope you enjoy them!
F is for Forbdden Planet
Forbidden Planet, a lone spacecraft C-57D is sent to find out the fate of an Earth expedition to planet Altair IV some 20 years before. On making contact with what seems to be the only inhabitant Morbius, Commander John Adams (played by a young Leslie Nielsen, being serious too) is warned not to land on Altair IV.
Ignoring this they land on the planet and are welcomed by Morbius and find out that Altair IV was once occupied by a race called the Krell. Morbius Shows Adams and his officers around the vast site that still exists and sill operates, even after thousands of years without it’s creators. With Robbie the robot to add into the mix as well Adams is suitably impressed with the discoveries and feels they need to be made available to all of mankind.
When mysterious deaths from an invisible assailant start happening it soon becomes clear that even though all the Krell may have died out thousands of years ago, something is still alive.
Despite it’s age (Forbidden planet was made in 1956) this film is still pretty strong, even Robbie a huge robot while not slick in this day and age is still a pretty cool and lovable character. When I first watched this I can say it was pretty scary and even now I can imagine that maybe one Krell survived. So from that perspective it’s really easy to get involved in this film and it’s really engaging.
That makes for letter F – G should follow tomorrow!
I’m sorry, it’s me – I can’t help it. I’ve tried to keep the insanity from the door of this corner of the web but I can’t do it any longer. The world in which we live is wonderful, beautiful and terrible thing and yet there’s few – well quite a lot of people actually…
In this series of posts I’m going to look at the human perspective and ask questions like ‘What does it mean to be human?’ or ‘How can I be a better Human?’ with a little sprinkling of ‘How can I be more comfortable as a human?’In this mad world we’ve been enduring especially over the…

My name is Simon I'm an engineer, creator, free thinker and occasionally writer. For far too long I had ideas and nowhere to put them for the world to see, that's why Planet Simon was created.
I'm an experimenter, explorer and fascinated by the world around me and the people in it. My exploration goes further than the known universe and expands out to universe's I've created in my mind and put onto the creative canvas.
I'm not the person I used to be and over time I have evolved and the blog is evolving with me. Whatever this blog is in the future it's a place where all are welcome and ideas can roam free to find their magical place in the universe.

Going strong with this challenge Simon. Another classic from ‘The Day’. All these films made on thin budgets and primitive special effects and yet they still come out as classics.
Haha yes I’ve seen this! I had a Sci-fi nut of a brother, so was brought up on this stuff!
