So this was the first week of the kindness challenge and I was hoping to have been able to have more time to be able to reflect in this as I was hoping to create a sketch around this week’s theme.
This week’s challenge can be found here:
The richness of a simple life kindness challenge – Week 1 Self Love
Instead I’ve done some thinking.
It spoke a lot about improving our own self image to believe we’re worthy of loving ourselves. We have to do this so that we can then be ready to love and be kind to others. My thinking around this focused on what I beat myself up about and what kind of mantra I can have that can help me be kinder to myself.
I came up with this:
- Don’t worry (be happy)
- Don’t dwell on the past
- Always be myself
- Every cloud has a silver lining – find it.
- Screw what anyone else thinks
This list could have been shorter, but I wanted it to apply to me and maybe give a little inspiration to anyone else reading it. This thing about lists is they need to be short and sweet, or at my age I’ll never remember it 😛
So that’s this week done – I’m looking forward to week 2!
Simon 🙂
Be kind to yourselves!
Sounds like you’re of to a great start! Good luck with the challenge 😀

Yeah… I wish life would lay off a bit and give me a chance to focus.

Yeah, I’m holding out for that lottery win so that I can focus all my energies on the interesting stuff, rather than the grubby business of earning enough money to keep myself fed and watered. If only I could remember to buy a ticket… 😆

One of my college professors used to say that us all the time. As new students in our engineering major, she told us not to stress but to give ourselves time and space to learn, not to panic and think the world is going to end if we got a bad grade but to give ourselves the best opportunity to do well by planning properly and managing our time so we could get the most out of the class. She explained what it meant early in the year and then she would reiterate at the end of each class, be kind to yourselves.
I say it now to you to validate your words – be kind to yourself, Simon. I hope you have a great week ahead.

Thanks Brunette… Actions come after thoughts and that’s kind of where I’m at!

woa there … writing the list is just acknowledgement … now you have to take action on each of those points to integrate them wholly into your life or you miss the point!
