      1. Nuclear fusion is significant becasue it can generate huge amounts of power from some basic resources like seawater with very little radioactive waste. It’s a much cleaner way of generating power. If we can get one to generate the right amount of power it’s likely you would only need one or a few to power a whole country.

      2. That would mean a LOT of power lines and make those lines VERY vulnerable to terrorists (eco or otherwise) disrupting power. They’d have to be prepared for this AND for the eco guys complaining about ever tree getting cut down to clear routes for said power lines.

  1. Do not forget big business. I’m old enough to remember the great furore when nuclear fission started, how we would all get very cheap electricity. The media went mad a new dawn had arision; but here we are paying more than ever before and many of the poor suffering from fuel poverty. When the wizard Michael Faraday discovered electric generation he said one day governments will tax this new commodity.
    Besides every advance brings problems just look at our climate difficulties ; sensible observers conclude science answers and creates difficulties, it’s the nature of the beast.
