And continues where we left off…
Part 3:
Sela and Tira watched on, the energy accelerator almost energised. Just then Sela darted off, he had thought of something.
“We need to be able to power the door once we shut down the accelerator.” He told Tira. She dashed off as a computerised voice sounded out.
“Two minutes until energy discharge. Shut down no longer advised”
“Here, is this what you need?” Tira had a heavy duty patch cable over her shoulder. Her light dress now looking dirty and scruffy around her.
“Yes. Excellent! Bring it here Tira” Sela had already taken off the panel and was plugging in the patch cable “Plug that end into the auxiliary supply. It should continue to supply power after we shut off the accelerator” Tira was just plugging the other end of the cable in when a video message suddenly appeared on the main screen. It was chancellor Galvor’s head of security.
“What’s going on there?” He demanded “We need you to shut off the energy accelerator so we can activate the defensive field” There was no hint that he was willing to negotiate.
“This is Sela Diemos. I’m sorry, but you need to wait just another minute. We can’t shut down now…”
“No Sela!” He demanded “I’ll shut it down here!”
“Do that and you’ll blow a hole in the planet and we need the accelerator to create a worm hole to… Oh there’s no time! Just wait, we’re under control here!” Sela was weary of this conversation.
“You can’t just commandeer the energy accelerator for your own mad ideas Sela” The security chief bellowed at him.
“I didn’t think you would like this but believe me it’s for the best!” At this Sela shut off the channel and to make sure he shut off external control. “Tars, in thirty seconds shut off the power to the accelerator, but wait for my signal”
“Understood doctor, this is cutting it fine”
The computer was counting down, Tira activated the doorway, it lit blue awaiting what would be it’s final operation.
“Five, four, three..” The computer counted, the accelerator lit up “Activating sequence” At this Sela and Tira watched as the blue green light emanated from the accelerator, on the screen they watched as the wormhole formed, it’s beautiful structure reaching into space from the planet. Sira was watching the readouts, then suddenly he shouted.
“My God look at that!” He and Tira watched as the fragment was sucked into the wormhole and launched int space. “A quantum singularity!” As usual Sela’s excitement was well timed.
“Sela, get Tars to shut it off!” She screamed.
“Yes, right!” Sela reached for the com unit “Tars, shut it down”
“Doing it now” Tars replied “Get here quick!” he insisted. Sela was standing there, mesmerised by the sight of the wormhole dissipating, Tira pulled at him.
“Now you stupid man!” She screamed! “We have to go!” With this Sela came running, the building rocked and Tira fell. Sela never let go, pulling Tira up, his strong arms pulling her body close to his and making for the doorway, so close yet so far. Another quake and building rocked. Sela dived for the door taking Tira with him a few moments later the door, control centre and the accelerator were all destroyed.
At the power transfer terminal Tars looked on, watching the energy accelerator tearing itself apart. All the energy stored in it’s massive coils had nowhere to go when they had removed the power to transfer to the defensive shield. Tars wasn’t sure that if what Sela and Tira had done had worked. But he realised they weren’t coming back. At that instant, the doorway in the control centred lit up blue and in fell Sela, still gripping the battered and bruised Tira. Tars turned, unable to hide the elation at seeing them.
“Doctors! Did it work?” Tars asked earnestly. Sela was gasping for breath as he gently set the unconscious Tira on the floor.
“Ah! Tars my friend!” Sela was coughing out the acrid smoke from all the burning electronics and plastics. “I think we should have had success. But as they say, only time will tell”
“Indeed” Tars replied “You both need medical attention” Tars turned and instructed the medics to report to the control room. “Is doctor Phoelan going to be alright?”
Sela got down on his knees and could see her breathing “I hope so, she’s breathing” At that moment several medics arrived. Two of them put Tira onto a portable Medi bed, the third scanned Sela with their medi scanner and gave him a shot in the neck.
“That should help you” The medic assured Sela.
“Thank you” Sela replied, rubbing his neck, now taking deep breaths easily “I feel much better”
A few moments later Tars walked up to Sela and prompted him to look outside “Look doctor Diemos, you did it!” Across the sea of steam cloud that had settled over the city, Sela looked out to see the twin suns of Mira slowly setting over the horizon. As he stood there watching, smiling, he felt the warmth of Tira next to him as she slipped her arm around his body.
“We did it!” Sela replied “You as well Tars, thank you for trusting us.”
“Thank you for saving us.” Tars smiled at them both. He looked over a message he had just been sent to him. “It looks like though that you’re in trouble for destroying the energy accelerator though, it seems the head of security is coming…”
“Let him” Sela was stern “We have got to find out if we sent our little quantum singularity back to where it came from! Can we access the Mira sensor array from here Tars?”
“We should be able to, to be honest I’ve not tried.” Tars replied.
“Let’s find out shall we?” Sela was beaming.

I’m glad you like it – Sorry for making them pure but it’s hard to build too much into themin 100 words lol
Also – the blog battles are meant to be rated PG13, so swearing etc isn’t permitted.
I’m glad you like them so far 🙂

No no! I wasn’t commenting on your writing being too pure. None wrong with that, and also I don’t think so, because your writing is fast pacing action packed stuff. It’s good. What I meant is that I’ve read through the comment thread and all the folks were so polite and ‘cute’ 🙂 That’s what I meant. Carry on!

Sometimes I think it’s quite ironic I call myself a ‘writer’, because based on coherency of some of my comments, I have no business in writing. 🙂 Particularly when I get excited, I write A and Z, overlooking everything else, and leave people scratching their heads. 🙂
