The Book Fangirling Blog Award

Hello Bloggies!

I’ve been nominated for the Book Fangirling Award by the lovely Charley of the booksandbakes blog. Becasue she’s busy working all hours she doesn’t get on here as much as she would like I’m guessing, but it was good to see her the other day especially as she nominated me for this. Thank you Charley!!! 🙂

Anyway, the rules for this one:

  • Create a post to accept your award.
  • Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget. Visit fangirling for the award button.
  • Answer the questions I have below.
  • Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees

Charley’s questions:

  1. Which is the best book you’ve read in 2015?                                              I’ve been making my way throught the Lord of the Rings this year and it’s brilliant! I could say I wish I read it sooner, but I probably wouldn’t have appreciated it as much as I do now.
  2. Is there a genre that you tend to shy away from? Why is this and what would make you try it?                                                                                                                             I don’t shy away from anything, but I tend to stick with Sci Fi and fantasy. I’m a guy, so mushy stuff really isn’t my scene.
  3. E-reader or paper book?                                                                                   I love a good book in my hand and could collect books just for being books. But from a purely practical point of view an e-reader lets me take volumes with me.
  4. What makes you love a book?                                                                  Making it interesting and being able to visualise the scenes in my mind. There’s nothing worse than being unclear.
  5. Do you have a favourite reading snack?                                                      I don’t tend to snack when I read, but when I’m writing it’s total crap – buiscuits often being consumed by the packet in no time.

Simon’s questions:

  1. Which is the best book you’ve read? Like ever?
  2. Where you you find the best place to read is for you?
  3. Are you ever put of by a big book or do you relish it?
  4. Are you someone that reads the back pages first?
  5. Is there a book  you loved that’s a total departure from your normal reading? What was it and why did you like it

My nominations:

Meg

Morgan

mnbernardbooks

Patrick

Allie

Teresa

As always you don’t have to do it but I would love it if you did. Most of these nominees are new to my reader tribe and I would like to get to know them. Morgan is simply awesome and always deserves my nomination 🙂

Simon 🙂

  1. I just wanted to let you know, my post on Friday about books is in response to this nomination. I’ve had to decline several award nominations recently and didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by accepting one and not another. However, I think I incorporated all your questions into the post! Thanks again!

  2. Love Lord of the Rings. One of those books you have to really read properly to appreciate. And I love your comment about collecting books for books sake. They are beautiful things. I want to live in a house line with them. My family objects…

      1. I am simply out of jam rings… lol
Actually it would be book 5 which is already done in German, but still not in the mood to go for a publisher. But I also count my posts as writing. 🙂

      2. My book I’m Free was first published in German before I translated it and published it in English 🙂 When you go to my blog you can see it on top at the left hand side of my home page. 🙂 That book was free of charge for me.

  3. What?! A nomination?! Aw! Why, thank you so much! I love answering questions and doing these things (no matter how many times I’ve done them before. :p) They’re always so much fun!

Gosh darn e-readers and their convenience factor! Bleh! I’m still very reluctant to get one of my own! Plus, I like having a hardcopy of the book to look at and put on my shelf. Call me old-fashioned. :p

Being a guy doesn’t mean you have to dislike mushy stuff, but… I have to admit that it’s not necessarily my favorite thing either, especially when it overshadows the main plot. *sigh*

Gah! Unclear scenes are the worst! I hate when I have to re-reading something because I have no idea what picture the author is trying to paint. Ugh. So frustrating!

    1. Yes, a nomination… I look forward to seeing your responses. I like them too I have to admit, I try and make sure I turn them around quickly. But I’m not holding you to that.
I was bought a e-reader a couple of years ago, it’s good becasue I could carry around the entire shelock holmes in a small form. But I love real books way more!
I started a story recently where the authour had to start by explaining who was who – I put it down, not a great start. I will try again with it.

      1. Hee hee! I will have it up on Nov 28th. (I have a very specific posting schedule. >.>)

Mm. I would like an e-reader also from the stand point that books can get damaged when being carted all over the place and I /hate/ when my books are damaged in ANY way, shape, or form. Ugh. Still, if I had it on an e-reader then I wouldn’t even have it to cart around. Where would be the fun in that? :/
